What Blogging is Teaching Me

February 7, 2012 - 8:16 pm

I consider myself to be a very lucky person and since I set up my business and this website, I have been encouraged to blog by my friend Judith Morgan who recently, together with her friend Marion Ryan, has set up a Better Bloggers Group for this month of February to which I applied and to which I was lucky enough to be invited.   Thank you ladies – both are so very accomplished!  I find myself in the midst of a terrific group of people, we are to be found sharing our blogging challenges on email, sharing snippets about one anothers lives, giving each other feedback on our blogs and learning much about the process of blogging and some techie stuff to boot.   Some of us accepted the challenge the other day to blog “5 things you might not know about me”.     WOW, so much of it is so inspiring.

Being a part of this group is a delight, it is an encouraging supportive environment, makes me feel included, let’s me know I am not alone in the learning process and what little hurdles I have come across thus far (blog wise) I have been assisted with fabulously and given the answers by these peeps.  it’s a lot like my Creative Circles in fact where a group of people get together, share their goals and challenges in a supportive and safe setting.

I was a very reluctant blogger until recently, this is something I have shied away from (as I see it) why would I want to be posting my life all over the internet and not know who is reading it and where it might be going.  I now find I am becoming keener and keener on this blogging malarky and it is almost as though I am keeping a little diary/notebook for myself, logging my thinking as I go, I’m finding it somewhat cathartic a challenge you could say.   It’s a bit of Morning Pages me thinks.  If you’re wondering what Morning pages is, take a look at Julia Cameron’s wonderful book The Artist’s Way.

The blogs that really grab me are those where the people speak right from the heart, they are unafraid to be open, they do not mind writing their deepest darkest secrets and sharing them, they are living out loud.

Well here I am stretching myself way way out of my comfort zone and to my surprise and delight I find I am enjoying the ride.

Hey Bianca, that sounds like a marvellous project you are involved in & wonderful set of people.LOL! I love the expression that you have coined here… The idea of “living out loud”… Can relate to your experience of being unsure of putting ‘it’ out there. It is proving to be a great way of sharing insight. And the process seems to be getting us into trust. Trust that the right people will be attracted to what you have to offer. Very inspiring. Look forward to future posts, Amanda

Bianca, I love reading your blog as you are so open and honest in your writing. I know what you mean about a reluctance to offer up your inner being and admire you for ‘living out loud’. Terrific phrase and I’m going to follow your lead – if I’m brave enough. Great read, thank.s

Lovely blog, Bianca, and I especially like the picture… Bloggers are strong and mighty (and dare to be vulnerable too!). Thank you. Sally

Getting out of our comfort zone is what it’s all about – it can be challenging, and it is how we grow. I’m so grateful to have taking the chance to live out loud with you! Sarah x

Bianca, glad we have managed to find each other in the blogging world. Your posts are so varied and interesting and have given me some things to think about, new challenges maybe and to dare to speak from the heart without being afraid of others opinions. Thank you!
Rachael
