Until a couple of years ago when one of my friends said “you’re the Queen B of connecting and networking”, I had not appreciated that I did either of these things, this is what I do virtually with my eyes closed. Until that moment, connecting had always been unconscious but I realise now that it is as natural to me as breathing.

I am always connecting people, it is what I do morning, noon and night (OK well maybe not all night). I have been doing this for the longest time. My friends and most people I know call me a connector, I effect introductions.
I seriously think I could have set up the most successful dating agency by now because I have certainly effected some damn good ones there, two of my dearest friends met through me and I am delighted to say that 30 years later they are still very happily married – to one another. My introductions have not always ended in marriage but I usually get a feel for who might get on with who and I am pretty pleased to say that I am normally spot on. Woo!
There is always somebody out there who I know that can usually help someone else I know, be it work or home connected or even a date!
If I put my attention to this, for as long as I can remember I have always been a people person, I sweep people up wherever I go, planes, bus stops planes. It’s simple really, I am usually always interested in most people - there might be the odd exception to this rule that is few and far between. It never ceases to amaze me how different we all are, how differently we live our lives, choose our partners, raise our children, have adventures and so forth.
A couple of weeks ago I sat down with a great friend. She and I decided to do a bit of a mapping exercise and one of the challenges for me that came out of this meeting was to go away and list all the introductions that I have ever made. Well I thought, easy! Mmmm…. I am still adding to this ever growing list, I probably cannot even remember them all, it is already as long as your arm.
Have you ever really thought about what it is that you do, what it is you do so naturally that if you took away all your daily distractions, you’d still be doing this anyway?

I love that we do the things we love naturally, without always thinking about it. In the same way that without breathing we’d die, when we don’t do the things we love, a small part of us dies too.
Thank you Bianca. It made me think about the things I really love to do too and the ways I could do even more of the same. Jan x
Lovely post, Bianca, and so classically Libran! The mediator, connector, networker; Libra’s a people person through and through. I bet you were introducing friends in the playground. It’s usually the way with our natural talents.
best, Sally
